New Travel Fund for Ph.D. and MFA Students

The Office of Research & Scholarship, in cooperation with the Dean’s Office, is pleased to announce a new funding opportunity for graduate students in the School of Education. The purpose of the Graduate Student Travel Grants is to enable graduate students to travel to off-campus sites, nationally or internationally, to conduct research and scholarship activities that are necessary for degree completion and with advisor approval.

  • Applications will be accepted between March 1 and March 27, 2026
  • Applications must include:
    • a 1-page, single-spaced synopsis of approved dissertation proposal/MFA final project plan
    • an itemized travel budget (transportation, housing, meals, research expenses, etc.)
    • a completed recommendation for the advisor
  • Graduate students in Ph.D. or MFA programs will be eligible for funding if they have approved dissertation proposals or have completed their first-year MFA review and have a creative research plan that specifies travel essential to achieve their research program or creative research plans.

More information, including additional requirements and a link to the online application, are available on the Office of Research & Scholarship webpage.

Registration is now open for the 2026 Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR) Summer Program in Quantitative Methods. This year’s program offers 90+ classes — in person and online. Additionally, ICPSR is offering over $400,000 in student scholarships this year. For more information and to apply, visit the ICPSR website.

Federal agencies will soon require covered individuals to certify completion of Research Security training. Although requirements are being implemented on an agency‑by‑agency basis, PIs and others working on federal awards are encouraged to complete the one‑hour training proactively to ensure they are prepared as additional agencies adopt similar mandates.
