News and Announcements

The Office of Management and Budget recently released proposed revisions to the Uniform Guidance and related federal research administration regulations for public comment. UW–Madison is actively reviewing the proposal and assessing potential implications for our research enterprise, including the conduct of research, research administration, compliance, and sponsored programs operations.  Learn more about how the Office for the Vice Chancellor for Research is approaching this proposal and how you may submit input on their website.

The Guggenheim Fellowship is an annual competition celebrating exceptional achievements in the arts, sciences, and humanities. It is expected that the 2027 competition will open for applications in August this year. Although applications are submitted individually, the Office of Research & Scholarship is prepared to offer support for the submission process. If interested, we encourage you to start planning your submission now to ensure sufficient time to submit the strongest proposal possible. Roughly 190 Fellowships are awarded each year.

Recently, the U.S. Department of Justice extended the Americans with Disabilities Act’s (ADA) digital accessibility rule. As you review your PDF documents to ensure they meet ADA criteria, we wanted to share the following resources recommended by the Center for User Experience:

As a reminder, anyone submitting to DOD/DOW, DOE, NASA, NIH, NSF and USDA should keep the following considerations in mind:

  • Common forms are required and must be created in SciENcv. Senior/key personnel must link their ORCID ID to their eRA Commons profile and in SciENcv.
  • Research Security Training is required for all senior/key personnel within 12 months prior to the submission
  • A Malign Foreign Talent Recruitment Program certification is required for all senior/key personnel at the time of submission. Annual re-certification is required for funded awards.

The AERA Professional Development and Training Program has announced its 2026 AERA Virtual Research Learning Series. A variety of courses will take place between June 10, 2026 and July 13, 2026. Registration for each 4-hour course is $40 for AERA members or non-members and includes the live course and unlimited access to the on-demand course recording. Learn more on AERA’s website.

The William T. Grant Institutional Challenge Grant supports university-based research institutes, schools, and centers in building sustained research-practice partnerships with public agencies or nonprofit organizations in order to reduce inequality in youth outcomes. This year’s application is open until Sept. 9, 2026. The Foundation recently hosted an informational webinar about the opportunity.
