Things You Need to Know From the Office of Research & Scholarship — July 2, 2026

The School of Education has selected 18 projects for funding through the One School Innovation Fund — 5 Seed and 13 Engage grants. The fund was designed to support bold, collaborative research and scholarship across the arts, education and health. Launched by Dean Marcelle Haddix and managed by the Office of Research & Scholarship, the fund was intentionally designed to encourage scholars to think expansively about how their work can address complex social and cultural challenges while advancing the Wisconsin Idea, innovation and the One School approach.

This year’s competition drew 71 proposals from 15 units across the School, reflecting the depth of innovation and engagement in our community. Through a rigorous, multi-stage review process involving subject-matter experts and a faculty committee, these projects were selected for their strong potential to advance high-impact scholarship, foster cross-unit collaboration, and position our faculty and academic staff for future funding and broader impact.

You can read more about the fund, the review process and the selected projects on the School of Education website.

Congratulations to the awardees, and thank you to all who submitted proposals and contributed to this highly competitive process. We are excited to see how these projects advance the One School approach and the Wisconsin Idea in meaningful ways.

News and Announcements

The Office of Research & Scholarship has launched three new shared inboxes to help provide timely, coordinated support and ensure continuity of service during staff absences and periods of high volume. While you are always welcome to contact individual team members directly, these inboxes are a great option for new requests or questions that may require assistance from multiple staff members.

We encourage you to use these shared inboxes to help us connect you with the right support as quickly as possible.

As NIH continues its efforts to strengthen rigor, reproducibility, and public trust in science, it is seeking input from the research community on an important question: Is the organization measuring and rewarding the activities that matter most for advancing biomedical discovery? NIH wants to hear your perspectives on how scientific impact and rigorous research should be measured and rewarded (NOT-OD-26-087). Comments will be accepted electronically here through their Request for Information (RFI) by Aug. 19, 2026.
