The Guggenheim Fellowship is an annual competition celebrating exceptional achievements in the arts, sciences, and humanities. It is expected that the 2027 competition will open for applications in August this year. Recently, the U.S. Department of Justice extended the Americans with Disabilities Act’s (ADA) digital accessibility rule. As you review your PDF documents to ensure they meet ADA criteria, we wanted to share the following resources recommended by the Center for User Experience:
- Start with an accessible document before converting to a PDF.
- Learn how to create accessible PDFs.
- Follow Adobe’s guide on PDF accessibility.
- Scanned images of text are not accessible. If you must use a scanned document, it should not have highlights, underlines, binding shadows, or clipped lines.
- Take a LinkedIn Learning class on creating accessible PDFs to learn more about tagging PDFs.
As a reminder, anyone submitting to DOD/DOW, DOE, NASA, NIH, NSF and USDA should keep the following considerations in mind:
- Common forms are required and must be created in SciENcv. Senior/key personnel must link their ORCID ID to their eRA Commons profile and in SciENcv.
- Research Security Training is required for all senior/key personnel within 12 months prior to the submission
- A Malign Foreign Talent Recruitment Program certification is required for all senior/key personnel at the time of submission. Annual re-certification is required for funded awards.
